An ever present, very "serious" question: "What is the tubing your frame is made of?" Different frames and their application ask for different materials. Our philosophy is that each of those materials have specific properties, "mentality" and behavior under stress and load. They react differently one from one another and sometimes like in our Carbo line of frames, they work together in order to make harmonious "marriage" and enhance each other. We use Aluminum alloys, Steel and CarbonFiber Composites to build our frames. As the world turns around and centuries pass, new materials emerge and new companies make them. The best tubing presently is made from the "new" material-Aluminum, and it comes from our homeland, USA. EASTON For STEEL frames we use the tubing fromColumbus Italy, and ReynoldsFAQ: "Why not Titanium?: - Not because we are not able to work with it, (Ti is the most weldable of all the metals used in bicycle frames, and it's way easier to do smooth looking welds than in other materials.) but because Titanium is too soft of a metal for application on bicycle frame. No matter what type of Titanium, it is far inferior, as a structure, to steel and not even close to compare it to AlSc alloys! We have number of customers who switched to our Scandium after they realized all they got from Ti frame is actually soft feeling. Our Scandium frames are lighter thanTi, they give just as comfortable ride, and WILL NOT give up on you when you pedal your hardest! |
